Scholarship Recipients

The West Point Community Foundation has selected the recipients of 34 scholarships awarded to members of the Class of 2021 totaling $27,500.

Henry A. Stalp and Ramona F. Stalp Scholarship ($1000)

APPLICATION
Manuel Barragan is the son of Martha and Manuel Barragan of West Point and is a graduate of West  Point-Beemer High School. Manuel plans to attend the University of Nebraska and pursue a degree in  Business Administration.

Aubrey Berg is the daughter of Anna Berg of Bancroft and is a graduate of Bancroft-Rosalie Community  Schools. Aubrey plans to attend Wayne State College and pursue a degree in Business. 

Andrew Borgelt is the son of Alan and Kristie Borgelt of Wisner and is a graduate of Wisner-Pilger High  School. Andrew plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Building  Construction.  

Logan Buhrman is the son of Brad and Amber Buhrman of Wisner and is a graduate of Wisner-Pilger  High School. Logan plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and pursue a degree in Animal  Science. 

Kaleb Hasenkamp is the son of Herb and Karina Hasenkamp of Beemer and is a graduate of West  Point-Beemer High School. Kaleb plans to attend the University of Nebraska and pursue a degree in Ag Business. 

Joshua Jansen is the son of Matthew and Taran Jansen of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian  Angels Central Catholic. Joshua plans to attend Wayne State College and pursue a degree in Nurse  Practitioner.  

Ty Kaup is the son of Melissa and Monte Haase and Travis Kaup of West Point and is a graduate of  West Point-Beemer High School. Ty plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and pursue a  degree in Architecture.

Alexander Kluthe is the son of Allan and Alison Kluthe of Pilger and is a graduate of Wisner-Pilger High  School. Alexander plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Computerl  Science. 

Avery Kreikemeier is the daughter of Jay and Denise Kreikemeier of West Point and is a graduate of  Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Avery plans to attend Wayne State College and pursue a degree in  Biology/Life Sciences.  

Aspen Lund is the daughter of Casey and Nicole Lund of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian  Angels Central Catholic. Aspen plans to attend Chadron State College and pursue a degree in  Rangeland Management. 
Audra Nolting is the daughter of Cletus and Joy Nolting of Bancroft and is a graduate of Bancroft Rosalie Community Schools. Audra plans to attend Wayne State College and pursue a degree in  Medical Lab Science.
Brooklyn Nolting is the daughter of Carl and Amanda Nolting of Bancroft and is a graduate of Bancroft Rosalie Community Schools. Brooklyn plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a  degree in Nursing. 
Alexzi Nottlemann is the daughter of Michael and Melinda Nottlemann of Bancroft and is a graduate of  Bancroft-Rosalie Community Schools. Alexzi plans to attend Wayne State College and pursue a degree  in Physical Therapy Assistant.

Tymarie Ott is the daughter of Steven and Heather Ott of Wisner and is a graduate of Wisner-Pilger High  School. Tymarie plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and pursue a degree in Elementary  Education/Special Education.  

Zachary Paasch is the son of David and Karin Paasch of West Point and is a graduate of West Point Beemer High School. Zachary plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and pursue a degree in  Mechanical Engineering.  

Brendan Rief is the son of Roger and Jenny Rief of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian Angels  Central Catholic. Brendan plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Building  Construction. 

Reece Snodgrass is the daughter of Alan and Holly Snodgrass of West Point and is a graduate of West  Point-Beemer High School. Reece plans to attend Concordia College and pursue a degree in Pre Pharmacy.

Tobias Steffensmeier is the son of Ryan and Charissa Steffensmeier of West Point and is a graduate of  Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Tobias plans to attend Creighton University, UNL or UNO and is  undecided in his course of study. 

Caragan Tietz is the daughter of Brent and Teresa Tietz of Bancroft and is a graduate of Bancroft Rosalie Community Schools. Caragan plans to attend Wayne State College and pursue a degree in  Elementary Education.
Sarah Von Seggern is the daughter of Mary Von Seggern of Wisner and is a graduate of Wisner-Pilger  High School. Sarah plans to attend the Wayne State College and pursue a degree in Early Childhood  Education.

ARC in Memory of Hattie Janecek-Career in Special Education ($500)

The applicant must plan on obtaining a college degree which includes a Special Education Endorsement and must be a successful graduate of a Cuming County High School.

Hannah Landholm is the daughter of Bill and Jenny Landholm of West Point and is a graduate of West  Point-Beemer High School. Hannah plans to attend Wayne State College and pursue a degree in  Elementary Education/Special Education.

ARC in Memory of Hattie Janecek-Students with IEP ($500)

The applicant must have a current IEP in place and there must be documentation attached that would support a diagnosis of a verified developmental delay (cognitive delay).

The Russ Herman Memorial Scholarship ($500)

The applicant must be seeking continued education at a university, college, or technical school pursuing a degree in the field of journalism. Applicant must be a current graduating senior who is attending a West Point High School that is approved and accredited by the State Department of Education. Scholarship value is $500.00. The Russ Herman Memorial Journalism Scholarship was created with funds from the Russ Herman Estate; Herman was a long-time journalist and radio announcer in the West Point Community.

APPLICATION

Hayley Ortmeier is the daughter of Troy and Kristy Ortmeier of West Point and is a graduate of West  Point-Beemer High School. Hayley plans to attend Wayne State College and pursue a degree in  Journalism. 

Allison Roeber Memorial Scholarship($500)

Applicant must be a current graduating senior who is attending a West Point Area High School that is approved and accredited by the State Department of Education. Applicant must be seeking continued education at a university, college, or technical school of applicant’s choice and pursuing a degree in the field of Child Protection.

  2. Law Enforcement
  3. Social Work
  4. Elementary Teacher
  5. Any other child protection education

Each scholarship has a value of $500. Seven scholarships were awarded. The Allison Roeber Scholarships are endowed with money from the Allison Pathway Fund and the Lester Fuhrman Estate. The scholarships are designed to help further area students’ education in a field of study that will be benefiting or helping children.

APPLICATION

Cassidee Stratman is the daughter of Doug and Joy Stratman of West Point and is a graduate of  Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Cassidee plans to attend Bryan College of Health Services and  pursue a degree in Nursing.  

Brianna Peatrowsky is the daughter of Chris and Nadine Peatrowsky of West Point and is a graduate of  Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Brianna plans to attend Benedictine College and pursue a degree in  Psychology and English. 

Jenna Schinstock is the daughter of Chad and Rachel Schinstock of West Point and is a graduate of  Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Jenna plans to attend Midland University and pursue a degree in  Special Education.  

Paige Rolf is the daughter of Tim and Sarah Rolf of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian Angels  Central Catholic. Paige plans to attend Benedictine College and pursue a degree in Nursing. 

Kailey Johnson is the daughter of Jed and Shannan Johnson of Beemer and is a graduate of West  Point-Beemer High School. Kailey plans to attend Methodist College and pursue a degree in Nursing. 

Reece Snodgrass is the daughter of Alan and Holly Snodgrass of West Point and is a graduate of West  Point-Beemer High School. Reece plans to attend Concordia College and pursue a degree in Pre Pharmacy.  

Sidney Swanson is the daughter of Aaron and Carrie Swanson of West Point and is a graduate of West  Point-Beemer High School. Sidney plans to attend the University of Sioux Fallsand pursue a degree in  Special Education.

Lindberg Northeast Community College Scholarship ($500)

Applicant must be a current graduating senior who is attending a West Point High School that is approved and accredited by the State Department of Education. Applicant must be seeking continued education at Northeast Community College as a full-time student. Scholarship value is $500.00.

APPLICATION
Caden Ernesti is the son of Paul and Angela Ernesti of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian Angels  Central Catholic. Caden plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Building  Construction.

Gwen F. Kaup Memorial Scholarship ($1000)

The applicant must be seeking continued education through a certificate program, trade school, college or university. Applicant must be a current graduating senior who is attending a West Point-Beemer Junior-Senior High School. Scholarship value is $1000.00. The Gwen F. Kaup Memorial Scholarship was created with funds from her family. Gwen was a 1975 graduate of West Point High School and worked in the West Point Community.

Rene Ramirez is the son of Jose Ramirez and Maria Morales of West Point and is a graduate of West  Point-Beemer High School. Rene plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and pursue a  degree in History.  

Butterfly Angels for Education ($500)

The applicant must be seeking continued education through a certificate program, trade school, college, or university. Applicant must be a current graduating senior who is attending a West Point High School. Scholarship value is $500.00. One each will be awarded to a graduating senior from Guardian Angels Central Catholic and West Point-Beemer Junior-Senior High School. Butterfly Angels Scholarships were created in memory of Lola Persson (mother) and Gwen Kaup (daughter) who both lived and worked in the West Point Community.

Evie Schlickbernd is the daughter of Pat and Jean Schlickbernd of West Point and is a graduate of  Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Evie plans to attend Midland University and pursue a degree in  Natural Science (pre-chiropractic).
