Scholarship Recipients

The West Point Community Foundation has selected the recipients of 31 scholarships awarded to members of the Class of 2023 totaling $25,000.

Henry A. Stalp and Ramona F. Stalp Scholarship ($1000)

Ashlynn Boell is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Parents are Jennifer Streeter and Andrew Boell of West Point. Ashlynn plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Omaha and pursue a degree in Pre-Medical Sciences.
Bryant Peck is a graduate of Wisner-Pilger High School. Parents are Ted and Angie Peck of Wisner. Bryant plans to attend UNL or Wayne State College and pursue a degree in Mathematics.
Carsten Knobbe is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Parents are Doug and Blayne Knobbe of West Point. Carsten plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Kearney and pursue a degree in Nursing.
Cassandra Peatrowsky is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Parents are Alan and Paula Peatrowsky of West Point. Cassandra plans to attend Concordia University and pursue a degree in Elementary Education.
Claire Paasch is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Parents are David and Karin Paasch of Scribner. Claire plans to attend Nebraska Methodist College and pursue a degree in Radiology.
Elise Raasch is a graduate of Bancroft-Rosalie Community Schools. Parents are Roxanne and David Raasch of Bancroft. Elise plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Omaha and pursue a degree in Biology.
Emily Buhrman is a graduate of Wisner-Pilger High School. Parents are Joe and Gina Buhrman of Pilger. Emily plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Nursing.
Emma Heller is a graduate of Wisner-Pilger High School. Parents are August and Eleanor Heller of Wisner. Emma plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and pursue a degree in Veterinary Science.
Erin Jensen is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Guardians are Darin & Krisa Brown of Craig. Erin plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Kearney and pursue a degree in Nursing.
Grace Johnson is a graduate of Bancroft-Rosalie Community Schools. Parents are Melissa Johnson of Bancroft. Grace plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Omaha and pursue a degree in Speech Pathology.
Isabella Bonneau is a graduate of Bancroft-Rosalie Community Schools. Parents are Trevor and Erin Bonneau of Rosalie. Isabella plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and pursue a degree in Human Development/Family Sciences.
James Rolf is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Parents are Brian & Jeanette Rolf of West Point. James plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Electrical Construction and Control.
Jessa Anderson is a graduate of Bancroft-Rosalie Community Schools. Parents are Matt and Casey Anderson of Rosalie. Jessa plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Omaha and pursue a degree in Nursing.
Katie Groth is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Parents are John and Julie Groth of Beemer. Katie plans to attend College of St. Mary and pursue a degree in Nursing.
Logan Consbruck is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Parents are Todd and Kayla Kuxhausen, & Todd Consbruck of West Point. Logan plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Animal Science.
MaKenna King is a graduate of Bancroft-Rosalie Community Schools. Parents are Drew and Caremlita King of Walthill. MaKenna plans to attend Wayne State College and pursue a degree in Chemistry and Health Science/Pre-Med.
Mollie Nielsen is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Parents are Paul & Melissa Nielsen of West Point. Mollie plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Omaha and pursue a degree in Bioinformatics.
Paige Hakel is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Parents are Dan and Jill Hakel of West Point. Paige plans to attend the University of South Dakota and pursue a degree in Dental Hygiene.

ARC in Memory of Hattie Janecek- Seniors with IEP ($500)

The applicant must be a graduating senior who has had at least part of their class attendance being in the form of special education or resource room classes. In addition, the student MUST have a current IEP in place with documentation attached that would support a diagnosis of a verified cognitive delay. Students must plan on obtaining a certificate of program completion, an associate degree from an accredited junior college, or attend an accredited college/university.

ARC in Memory of Hattie Janecek-Career in Special Education ($500)

The applicant must plan on obtaining a college degree which includes a Special Education Endorsement and must be a successful graduate of a Cuming County High School.

Tara Gentrup is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Parents are Tina Gentrup and Terry Gentrup of West Point. Tara plans to attend the University of South Dakota and pursue a degree in Elementary Education.

The Russ Herman Memorial Scholarship ($500)

The applicant must be seeking continued education at a university, college, or technical school pursuing a degree in the field of journalism. Applicant must be a current graduating senior who is attending a West Point High School that is approved and accredited by the State Department of Education. Scholarship value is $500.00. The Russ Herman Memorial Journalism Scholarship was created with funds from the Russ Herman Estate; Herman was a long-time journalist and radio announcer in the West Point Community.

Greta Wooldrik is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Parents are Mark and Michelle Wooldrik of West Point. Greta plans to attend South Dakota State University and pursue a degree in Agricultural Business and Communications.

Allison Roeber Memorial Scholarship($500)

Applicant must be a current graduating senior who is attending a West Point Area High School that is approved and accredited by the State Department of Education. Applicant must be seeking continued education at a university, college, or technical school of applicant’s choice and pursuing a degree in the field of Child Protection.

  1. Health Care
  2. Law Enforcement
  3. Social Work
  4. Elementary Teacher
  5. Any other child protection education

Each scholarship has a value of $500. Seven scholarships were awarded. The Allison Roeber Scholarships are endowed with money from the Allison Pathway Fund and the Lester Fuhrman Estate. The scholarships are designed to help further area students’ education in a field of study that will be benefiting or helping children.

Hailey Hunzeker is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Parents are Josh and Alice Hunzeker of West Point. Hailey plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Nursing.
Katie Groth is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Parents are John and Julie Groth of Beemer. Katie plans to attend College of St. Mary and pursue a degree in Nursing.
Leah Jansen is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Parents are Matt and Tarah Jansen of West Point. Leah plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Omaha and pursue a degree in Secondary Education/English.
Michael Cohee is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Parents are Tom & Michelle Cohee of West Point. Michael plans to attend college and pursue a degree in Pre-Health/Engineering.
Molly Winn is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Parents are David and Sarah Winn of West Point. Molly plans to attend Concordia University and pursue a degree in Music Therapy.
Trey Smith is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Parents are Jason and Danelle Smith of West Point. Trey plans to attend Benedictine College and pursue a degree in Biology/Exercise Science.

Lindberg Northeast Community College Scholarship ($500)

Applicant must be a current graduating senior who is attending a West Point High School that is approved and accredited by the State Department of Education. Applicant must be seeking continued education at Northeast Community College as a full-time student. Scholarship value is $500.00.

Miranda Bracht is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Parents are Joel and Tricia Bracht of West Point. Miranda plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Structural Drafting.

Gwen F. Kaup Memorial Scholarship ($1000)

Jax Jacobson is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. Parents are Jason and Tana Jacobson of Oakland. Jax plans to attend Concordia University and pursue a degree in Computer Science.

Butterfly Angels for Education ($500)

Ethan Dale is a graduate of West Point-Beemer High School. His mother is Holli Dale of Beemer. Ethan plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and pursue a degree in Finance.
Zoey Ruskamp is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Parents are Gina Ruskamp and the late Ron Ruskamp of West Point. Zoey plans to attend the Univeristy of Nebraska-Kearney and pursue a degree in Psychology.
