Scholarship Recipients

The West Point Community Foundation has selected the recipients of 34 scholarships awarded to members of the Class of 2021 totaling $27,500.

Henry A. Stalp and Ramona F. Stalp Scholarship ($1000)

APPLICATION
Alyssa Buchholz is the daughter of Travis and Jody Buchholz of Bancroft and is a graduate of Bancroft-Rosalie Community Schools. Alyssa plans to attend Wayne State College and pursue a degree in Biology and Veterinary Medicine.
Caden Hansen is the son of Richard and Abigail Hansen of Bancroft and is a graduate of Bancroft-Rosalie Community  Schools. Caden plans to attend Wayne State College and pursue a degree in Business. 
Lauren Kramer is the daughter of Troy and Tara Kramer of Rosalie and is a graduate of Bancroft Rosalie Community Schools. Lauren plans to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln and pursue a degree in Early Childhood Development.  
Jocelyn Pagels is the daughter of Mark and Gina Pagels of Bancroft and is a graduate of Bancroft Rosalie Community Schools. Jocelyn plans to attend Wayne State College and pursue a degree in Business Marketing and Management. 
Carrington Peters is the daughter of Rodney and Cindi Peters of Bancroft and is a graduate of Bancroft Rosalie Community Schools. Carrington plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Nursing 
Madison Brunsing is the daughter of Don and Alisa Brunsing of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Madison plans to attend the University of Nebraska Omaha and pursue a degree in Accounting.  
Kayla Fischer is the daughter of Brian and Doreen Fischer of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Kayla plans to attend Wayne State College and pursue a degree in Pre-Pharmacy.  
Sophia Hass is the daughter of Dr.Brian and Julie Hass of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic High  School. Sophia plans to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln and pursue a degree in Biological Systems Engineering.
Kassidy Kaup is the daughter of Doug and Stacy Kaup of West Point and is a graduate of  Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Kassidy plans to attend Bryan College of Health and pursue a degree in  Nursing.  
Samuel Ortmeier is the daughter of Chad and Becky Ortmeier of Dodge and is a graduate of  Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Samuel plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in  Electrical Construction and Control.  
Keegan Doggett is the son of Terry and Kinzey Doggett of West Point and is a graduate of  West Point Beemer High School. Keegan plans to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln and pursue a degree in  Ag Business.  
Jadyn Meiergerd is the daughter of Gerald and Karen Meiergerd of West Point and is a graduate of West Point Beemer High School. Jadyn plans to attend the University of Nebraska Omaha and pursue a degree in  Kinesiology.  
Saige Miserez is the daughter of Wade and Lisa Miserez of West Point and is a graduate of West Point Beemer High School. Saige plans to attend the Wayne State College and pursue a degree in  Pre-Med.  
Emily Oligmueller is the daughter of Tim and Tracy Oligmueller of West Point and is a graduate of West Point Beemer High School. Emily plans to attend the Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Nursing.  
Katie Rainforth is the daughter of Jay and Kelly Rainforth of Scribner and is a graduate of West Point Beemer High School. Katie plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and pursue a degree in  Ag Business.  
Lindsey Kneifl is the daughter of Sid and Heather Kneifl of Pilger and is a graduate of Wisner Pilger High School. Lindsey plans to attend Wayne State College and pursue a degree in Business-Marketing. 
Adison Meyer is the daughter of Kathie Peterson of Wisner and is a graduate of Wisner Pilger High School. Adison plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Radiology.

ARC in Memory of Hattie Janecek-Career in Special Education ($500)

The applicant must plan on obtaining a college degree which includes a Special Education Endorsement and must be a successful graduate of a Cuming County High School.

APPLICATION
Ethan Baumert is the son of Tyler and Denise Baumert of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic High School. Ethan plans to attend Wayne State College and pursue a degree in Spanish Education. 

ARC in Memory of Hattie Janecek-Students with IEP ($500)

The applicant must have a current IEP in place and there must be documentation attached that would support a diagnosis of a verified developmental delay (cognitive delay).

APPLICATION
Diego Estrada is the son of Xochitl and Eloy Estrada of West Point and is a graduate of West Point Beemer High School. Diego plans to attend the University of Nebraska Omaha and pursue a degree in Marketing. 

The Russ Herman Memorial Scholarship ($500)

The applicant must be seeking continued education at a university, college, or technical school pursuing a degree in the field of journalism. Applicant must be a current graduating senior who is attending a West Point High School that is approved and accredited by the State Department of Education. Scholarship value is $500.00. The Russ Herman Memorial Journalism Scholarship was created with funds from the Russ Herman Estate; Herman was a long-time journalist and radio announcer in the West Point Community.

APPLICATION
Shelbie Woerman is the daughter of Stella Gerken and Russell Woerman of West Point and is a graduate of West Point Beemer High School. Shelbie plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Media Arts-Digital Journalism and Social Media. 

Allison Roeber Memorial Scholarship($500)

Applicant must be a current graduating senior who is attending a West Point Area High School that is approved and accredited by the State Department of Education. Applicant must be seeking continued education at a university, college, or technical school of applicant’s choice and pursuing a degree in the field of Child Protection.

  1. Health Care
  2. Law Enforcement
  3. Social Work
  4. Elementary Teacher
  5. Any other child protection education

Each scholarship has a value of $500. Seven scholarships were awarded. The Allison Roeber Scholarships are endowed with money from the Allison Pathway Fund and the Lester Fuhrman Estate. The scholarships are designed to help further area students’ education in a field of study that will be benefiting or helping children.

APPLICATION
Erica Engelmeyer is the daughter of Rick and Marla Engelmeyer of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic High School. Erica plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Nursing. 
Reese Schlect is the son of Rod and Dara Schlect of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic High School. Reese plans to attend Iowa Central Community College and pursue a degree in Education. 
Taylor Timmerman is the daughter of Jeff and Anne Timmerman of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian Angels Central Catholic High School. Taylor plans to attend the University of South Dakota and pursue a degree in Medical Biology. 
Jordan Hoffman is the daughter of Tyler and Jennifer Slagle of West Point and is a graduate of West Point Beemer High School. Jordan plans to attend the Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Biology/Pre-med. 
Riley Penrose is the son of Ryan and Kari Penrose of West Point and is a graduate of West Point Beemer High School. Riley plans to attend Northwestern College and pursue a degree in Biology. 
Karen Rodriguez is the daughter of Armando Rodriquez and Marilu Arcos of West Point and is a graduate of West Point Beemer High School. Karen plans to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln and pursue a degree in Education. 
Chloe Sullivan is the daughter of Richard and Heidi Sullivan of West Point and is a graduate of West Point Beemer High School. Chloe plans to attend the Nebraska Methodist and pursue a degree in Healthcare Management.

Lindberg Northeast Community College Scholarship ($500)

Applicant must be a current graduating senior who is attending a West Point High School that is approved and accredited by the State Department of Education. Applicant must be seeking continued education at Northeast Community College as a full-time student. Scholarship value is $500.00.

APPLICATION
Cade Bailey is the son of Mike and Deb Bailey of West Point and is a graduate of Guardian Angels  Central Catholic. Cade plans to attend Northeast Community College and pursue a degree in Electrical Construction and Control.

Gwen F. Kaup Memorial Scholarship ($1000)

The applicant must be seeking continued education through a certificate program, trade school, college or university. Applicant must be a current graduating senior who is attending a West Point-Beemer Junior-Senior High School. Scholarship value is $1000.00. The Gwen F. Kaup Memorial Scholarship was created with funds from her family. Gwen was a 1975 graduate of West Point High School and worked in the West Point Community.

Mayam Medina Lopez is the daughter of Joel Medina Osornio and Juana Lopez Rocha of West Point and is a graduate of West Point Beemer High School. Mayam is undecided on her plans for which school she is attending and her major.

Butterfly Angels for Education ($500)

The applicant must be seeking continued education through a certificate program, trade school, college, or university. Applicant must be a current graduating senior who is attending a West Point High School. Scholarship value is $500.00. One each will be awarded to a graduating senior from Guardian Angels Central Catholic and West Point-Beemer Junior-Senior High School. Butterfly Angels Scholarships were created in memory of Lola Persson (mother) and Gwen Kaup (daughter) who both lived and worked in the West Point Community.

Nancy Lemus Garcia is the daughter of Rosa Garcia of West Point and is a graduate of West Point Beemer High School. Nancy is undecided on her plans for which school she is attending and her major.
Kassidy Kaup is the daughter of Doug and Stacy Kaup of West Point and is a graduate of  Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Kassidy plans to attend Bryan College of Health and pursue a degree in Nursing.
